My dad never stopped playing golf.
ALS took most of what he had. By the end he could barely move. But he kept getting to the sim. The last full round he played was nine holes against his best friend — and he beat him.

Watching him fight to keep doing the one thing he loved is the reason I do this work.

I’ve been in gyms since I was 18 — front desks, maintenance, 5am and 9pm classes through college, the floor, the office. Eight years in I’d been ranked among the top GoodLife trainers on Canada’s East Coast and was leading my own personal training team. I launched TJR Strength in 2025 to do this work the way I believe it should be done.

What I care about most is helping people keep their independence in the things they love. Walking 18 with their buddies. Lifting a grandkid. Swinging a club for another twenty years instead of giving it up at sixty.

Golf is where a lot of those people show up — not because they care about ball speed, but because they don’t want to lose the game.
